Police inquiry launched into fire-raising at Paisley's Reid Kerr College

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a fire started deliberately caused around £250,000 worth of damage to a college.

Firefighters were called to the blaze, started in an unused part of the college yesterday evening at around 7:30pm.

There was no-one inside the building at Reid Kerr College, in Renfrew Road, Paisley, and no-one was injured, police said.

Officers are treating the fire as wilful.

Detective Constable Paul Richmond, from Paisley CID, said: "Inquiries have revealed that this fire was started deliberately and I'd like to speak to anyone who has any information that could help trace the person or persons responsible.

"I'd like to speak to a group of youths who were seen running from the college around the time the fire was reported.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Paisley CID on 0141-532 5900."
