Police in hunt for mugger on mountain bike

A MUGGER on a mountain bike grabbed a woman's handbag as he cycled past and knocked her to the ground in the struggle.

The 23-year-old victim was walking along the Old Railway Walkway between Telfer Drive and Easter Drylaw Drive in Drylaw.

The woman had stopped for a moment when the suspect cycled past on the bike and attempted to snatch her bag.

The victim tried to hold on to her property, but fell to the ground as he ripped it from her grasp and fled the scene towards Craigleith.

The woman was uninjured and contacted police following the incident at around 2:50pm on Tuesday.

The suspect is described as white, between 19 and 22 years old, 6ft with a slim build and a greyish yellow complexion with drawn in cheeks and tobacco-stained teeth.

He had dark brown eyes with bags underneath and brown curly hair with long sideburns.

He was wearing a black cap, light grey Nike hoody and jogger bottoms, black trainers and thick cotton gloves.

The bike he was riding is described as silver and black with front and rear suspension.
