Police hunting Perth shop knife robber

DETECTIVES in Tayside are hunting a man who robbed a shop in Perth after threatening a member of staff with a knife.

The robbery happened shortly before 11am today at The Corner Shop in the city’s Crieff Road.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “While shocked by the incident, the man within the store was uninjured. No one else was in the shop at the time.”

He continued: “The suspect is described as being aged 18 to 20-years old, between 5ft 6ins and 6ft tall and was wearing a dark leather jacket and blue jeans. He may also have been wearing a blue hooded top under the jacket. His face was covered.

“He was seen running past the Tulloch Institute and nearby bowling green and into a wooded area near the crematorium.”

The spokesman added: “Uniformed and detective officers are in the area carrying out enquiries in an effort to trace this person and search trained dogs are assisting their investigation, along with the Police Scotland helicopter. Anyone who has information that could assist Police Scotland should call 101, or speak to any officer.”
