Police hunt two men after teenager raped

A TEENAGE girl has been raped by two men in Glasgow city centre, police said.

The 18-year-old was left "extremely distressed" by the ordeal close to one of the city's busiest streets.

She was walking along Buchanan Street at 2.30am last Sunday when two men grabbed her and pulled her into McCormack Lane, where they raped her.

Police said another woman was in the lane at around the time of the attack and could have witnessed the incident.

They are also checking CCTV footage from the area, which would have been busy with people leaving pubs and clubs.

The two men are described as being white and in their 30s. One of the men was wearing a blue beanie-style hat.

Speaking from City Centre Police Office, Detective Sergeant Duncan Cameron said: "This young woman is understandably extremely distressed and upset by her ordeal and it is vital that we find the men responsible.

"Officers are continuing enquiries and are checking CCTV from in and around the area, which would have been busy with revellers leaving local nightclubs."

He added: "I am particularly keen to trace a woman who entered McCormack Lane around the time of the incident and may have witnessed the attack. I would ask her to come forward - any information she may have, no matter how insignificant, may be the final piece of the jigsaw we need to trace the two men responsible.

"I would urge anyone who may have been in the area of McCormack Lane around the time of the attack to get in touch with us. It is possible that people may have seen the suspects and have information which could assist our investigation."
