Police hunt sex offender

POLICE are hunting for a notorious sex offender from East Lothian in relation to a series of alleged thefts in England, it was reported today.

John Cronin, who was living in Hartlepool after being released from prison in March, fled his latest flat and is being sought by officers.

They want to question him in relation to the theft of a pensioner's wallet containing 150 and bank cards.

It was reported today that the 37-year-old from Tranent had introduced himself as Shane. But when police turned up at his property he had gone, leaving belongings behind him.

Cronin is also alleged to have stolen 80 from a resident in the guest house he was most recently staying in.

It was also reported that Cronin was speaking with a fake Irish accent.
