Police hunt for man after couple attacked

POLICE have launched a nationwide search for a man on the run after a city centre attack believed to involve a tasar gun.

Two main streets in Inverness were cordoned off after two men and a women were hurt in the disturbance at a flat.

The incident happened in Baron Taylor Street during the early hours of yesterday.

Police issued an appeal for help to trace a 36-year-old man, believed to be a local musician.

A source claimed the man had a history of mental health problems and had been stalking a former girlfriend.

He added that the attacker was believed to be in possession of at least one weapon, suspected to be a tasar gun.

Northern Constabulary released details of a silver Citron C5 car, registration HK52 TYH, he is understood to be driving.

A spokeswoman said: "Inquiries to date would indicate that the man and vehicle are no longer within the Northern Constabulary force area.

"Northern Constabulary has shared information on the individual and his vehicle with Forces in Scotland and England and they are assisting the Force with inquiries."

The man is described as white, between 5ft 9in and 5ft 10in, of medium build, last seen wearing a dark beret type hat and has dark, shaved hair.

The spokeswoman added: "The three people within the property received minor injuries as a result of the disturbance.

"The area has been cordoned off by police while officers carry out inquiries into the circumstances.

"A nearby fast food premises was closed for a short time while police carried out inquiries.
