Police hunt for fireraiser

POLICE are hunting a fireraiser who set alight an occupied property which was completely destroyed by the blaze.

The incident took place just after 1am yesterday at the address in Steele Avenue in Mayfield, Midlothian.

Detectives are now following a positive line of inquiry.

A police spokesman said: "While no-one was injured, there was a real possibility the flames could have spread to a neighbouring property.

"We are therefore keen to quickly trace those responsible for this reckless and malicious act.

"Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the fire being set or who can help identify the suspects is asked to contact police immediately."
