Police hunt driver over girl approach

A MOTORIST who engaged a 13-year-old girl in "inappropriate" conversation after asking her for directions is being sought by police.

The teenager had just got off a Lothian bus at the roundabout in Lauder Road in Dalkeith at 8pm on Thursday when the driver pulled up alongside her in a black saloon car.

Police said the man started talking to the girl after asking for directions, and the victim "felt his behaviour was inappropriate".

The teen attracted the attention of two women walking past, and the man drove off towards Fordel service station.

Police are keen to speak with any witnesses and, in particular, the two women who passed.

The suspect is of Asian appearance, in his mid-30s, with a heavy build. He was bald and clean shaven. He also had a tattoo on his left inside forearm, described as being shaped like a large 'S' with foreign writing.
