Police hunt bogus callers

POLICE are hunting two bogus callers who tried to con a pensioner into handing over hundreds of pounds by claiming that she owed them money for work to be carried out at her home.

They called at the house in the Broombank Terrace area of Corstorphine on Tuesday and persuaded the woman to accompany them to a bank.

But a bank teller questioned her about the withdrawal and raised the alarm after she explained the situation. However, the suspects had fled by the time further inquiries could be made.
