A force spokesman said: “Police Scotland officers in Perth want to trace a van driver, who stopped in Campsie Road, asked a 15 year-old schoolgirl to come over to his vehicle. The girl had seen the man at shops in nearby Rannoch Road, before seeing him again in the van, sometime between 12.35pm and 12.50p today.

“Distressed by his behaviour, the girl ran off.”

The spokesman explained: “The man was driving a white-coloured van, with a black or grey-coloured drop down gate at the back. He spoke with a local accent, was in his 40s, about five feet 11 inches to six feet tall and slender. He had a bald or shaven head and stubble on his face.

“At the time he was wearing a dark hooded top, possibly with red writing on it. Anyone who saw this van or who recognises the driver by his description should contact Tayside Division on 101, or speak to any officer.”
