Police force reports good news on crime

CRIME has fallen and detection rates are up in one of Scotland's smallest police forces.

Dumfries and Galloway Chief Constable Patrick Shearer said reported crime had fallen by 13 per cent on the three-year average, while the detection rate had reached 57.1 per cent last year, a 3.5-point increase in the proportion of crimes solved.

The number of people killed or injured on the area's roads was down.
