Police find body in hunt for Ross-shire man

POLICE searching for a missing man have discovered a body.

The search for David Mackay, 21, from Alness in Ross-shire, has been stood down.

The name of the dead man will not be released until formal identification has taken place and next of kin have been informed.

Mr McKay was last seen outside the Duthac Centre, a leisure and recreation centre in Tain, at 1.15am yesterday.

The search involved personnel from RAF and Dundonnel Mountain Rescue Teams as well as Coastguard personnel and the RAF Helicopter.

In addition, police thanked a large number of members of the public, who with Highland Air Search provided invaluable assistance.

Home owners and occupiers in Tain and the surrounding areas were also asked to check their gardens and any outbuildings.

A report is to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal at Tain.
