Police check lead in hunt for banker’s doorstep killer

A POSSIBLE new lead in the case of a banker gunned down on his doorstep is being investigated by police.

Alistair Wilson, 30, a father of two, was murdered outside his home in Nairn in November 2004. Almost seven years on, the case remains open and unsolved.

Now a local newspaper has received a call from a Dutch charity worker. He said he met a man who claimed he knew Mr Wilson and the killer.

The newspaper said the information alleged an international link to the crime, with the clue possibly lying in China.

The caller was said to have named the man he met abroad and given details of where and when the discussion took place.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: “As this is an ongoing, live investigation, we will not comment on specific lines of inquiry or, indeed, their origins, but all information we do receive is fully researched and investigated.

“The inquiry remains open, and anyone who has information should contact police.”
