Police arson probe after Rowan Tree pub fire
Firefighters attended a blaze at the Rowan Tree pub in Mayfield, shortly before 3am this morning.
A force spokeswoman said the incident, which caused extensive damage, is being treated as a “wilful fire-raising”.

Hide AdShe added: “Police and the fire service are continuing their enquiries to establish the circumstances.”
It was initially reported that persons were trapped inside the pub but that everyone has since been accounted for.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a line of hose and a high pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.
The licensing board agreed last month that the Rowan Tree had been in breach of regulations.

Hide AdTo prevent crime and disorder and protect the public, it was agreed that its licensing hours should be slashed, with no children or young people allowed on the premises.
Previously it had been open until 11pm.
