Officers have been speaking to neighbours and studying CCTV footage in a bid to trace his killer. They have established that Mr Alexander was still alive late on Friday afternoon.

Detective Chief Inspector David Gailey said: "It is crucial to the investigation that we build an accurate picture of his movements from then, until he was discovered on Saturday night, and I would therefore appeal to anyone who knew him, or may have been in contact with him, to get in touch with police as a matter of urgency.."
