Police appeal over Queen Street assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a door steward was seriously assaulted outside a bar in Queen Street.

The 28-year-old man was working outside Brambles at about 12.45am on Sunday, July 24, when three men approached him.

The men then got into an argument with him, which resulted in one of the men punching him and knocking him unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw.

The suspect is white, aged 30 to 35 with fair hair. He was wearing a light blue top and dark trousers. One of the other men was the same age, of stocky build with short dark hair and a dark shirt.

A police spokesperson said: "This has been a violent attack in an area that would have been quite busy with revellers."
