Police appeal for witnesses after teenager is beaten up

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was assaulted and left with a fractured cheekbone.

The 19-year-old was standing at the corner of Picardy Place and Broughton Street when three men approached him.

They shouted as they walked by and one of the men punched the victim a number of times before running off, at about midnight last Wednesday.

The victim was taken to the ERI, where he was found to have a fractured cheekbone. He has been referred to St John’s Hospital for further treatment.

The three men are described as white, and one had blond hair.

A police spokesman said: “The area would have been quite busy at the time with people making their way from the pubs to nearby clubs. If anybody who was outside or was passing through the area at that time is able to give us some information it would be helpful.”
