Police appeal to find good Samaritan

POLICE have appealed for help in tracing a good Samaritan who came to the aid of a man injured in an alleged serious assault.

The incident happened at around 8:30pm on Tuesday, 8 December in Hopefield Place in Blackburn, West Lothian, when a 34-year-old man suffered serious injuries in an attack.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged assault.

Officers are keen to trace a man who was driving a white Transit van who stopped to help the victim, and gave him a lift to Blackburn Cross shortly afterwards.

Police believe the man may be able to provide important information about the incident.

A police spokesman said: "We would appeal to him, or anyone else who may have been in the area and saw what happened, to contact police as a matter of urgency."
