Pole position at parliament

WORKMEN have been carrying out tests at the Scottish Parliament to see if they can revarnish the oak poles in the canopy over the public entrance without taking them down.

Three years ago, the poles were removed so a fresh protective coating could be applied.

Thirty-four of the 209 poles needed to have sections replaced, four years after the 414 million building opened.
