Poland: Man detained after MP's aide shot dead

An ASSAILANT shot dead an assistant to an MP from Poland's main opposition party yesterday, in an attack that its leader, Jaroslaw Kaczynski blamed on a "hate campaign" started by prime minister Donald Tusk.

Police took a 62-year-old male into custody yesterday after he shot one unnamed Law and Justice (PiS) party worker and badly wounded another with a knife during the attack in Lodz.
