Poland to build world’s first Wikipedia monument
The world’s first monument to Wikipedia will be constructed in the town of Słubice, near to the German border, following a bid from Krzysztof Wojciechowski, director of the city’s Collegium Polonicum.
The structure has been designed by 30-year-old Armenian-born Mihran Hakobjan, who graduated from Słubice college, according to thenews.pl.

Wikipedia has always been popular in the country, with the Polish edition regularly ranking among the biggest global editions since the 2001 launch.
It peaked at fourth between 2006 and 2011, and is currently the 12th largest worldwide, boasting more than a million articles.
Deputy mayor Piotr Łuczynski said the memorial, due to be unveiled on October 22, would highlight Słubice’s importance as an academic centre.
Representatives from WikimediaDeutschland are expected to attend as well as members of the Wikimedia Foundation, which hosts Wikipedia.
