Plea to solve hawks theft

Police are urging anyone with information about two Harris hawks stolen in Loanhead and then recovered the following day to get in touch.

Barry Shaw, 22, received an anonymous message on Saturday via Facebook saying that his birds – worth £350 each – had been left behind a disused Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh.

He said the hawks appeared to have been “bullied”.

A police spokesman said: “The fact they have been mistreated is concerning.”
