Plea over cancer test

PEOPLE in the Lothians aged between 50 and 74 have been urged to take part in screening for one of the country's biggest killers.

As part of the Bowel Cancer Awareness month, the head of a national screening programme said it was essential those in that age group took up the offer of a free self-administered test. Prof Robert Steele said: "This screening programme is very simple, but very effective. It saves lives by detecting problems early and spotting symptoms that people may not know they have."
