Plea for bone marrow donor

THE family of a man recently diagnosed with leukaemia is hosting a session for potential bone marrow donors.

Thirty-one year-old Paul Golding fell ill earlier this year, and his Edinburgh relatives want to increase awareness of the importance of the issue.

Many leukaemia victims' only chance of beating the illness lies in finding a match from a healthy bone marrow donor, but numbers willing to sign up are low.

The event will take place at Renew Physio on Canning Street on Monday from 5-8pm, and will be run by bone marrow charity the Anthony Nolan Trust.

London-based Mr Golding's aunt, Judy Shaw, said: "Paul is a young, fit man which is why we were particularly thrown to find out he had fallen ill.

"As a family it has certainly affected us all which is why we are determined to raise the profile of the Anthony Nolan Trust. We hope people in will come out to support us in their droves."
