Playpark opens for pensioners

A £28,000 playpark for pensioners was officially opened yesterday. The park features six gym machines, including a chest press, a space walker and a pull-down exerciser to help OAPs get fit.

The facility in Aberdeen was named "Billie's Playpark", after Billie Arthur, who helped to raise funds for the campaign.

Dozens of local pensioners were at the event to support the launch. Alma Duncan, 76, said: "The project helps get pensioners outdoors and that's important.

"A lot of elderly folk feel they are neglected."

The playpark was built in the city's South Esplanade West.
