Planning bids rocket again

THE number of planning applications lodged in Edinburgh has increased for a ninth consecutive month.

New data has revealed 1195 planning applications were lodged in the three-month period to the end of July, up 17.9 per cent on a year earlier.

More firms have also noted their intention to lodge "major" planning developments in Edinburgh than Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen.

A total of 1170 building warrants were issued, a five per cent decline on last year.
