Plane sparks airport crash landing fears

EMERGENCY services raced to Edinburgh Airport after a small aircraft reported a flap malfunction on its landing approach yesterday afternoon.

A full emergency response was initiated at 3.40pm after the five-passenger plane reported it might have difficulty landing.

Fire crews, police and paramedics joined airport emergency services but the aircraft landed safely around ten minutes later, the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed.

A spokesman added that the service's special operations unit was stood down at 3.55pm.
