Pizza fraud man ‘too fat for court’

A MAN charged with pizza fraud claimed today he was too fat to come to court

Liam Johnston, 21, was said by his lawyer to be “medically unfit” to attend Livingston Sheriff Court because he weighed 40 stone.

Alan Jackson, defending Johnston, said his client had been assessed by a psychiatric nurse and was now going to be examined by his GP.

He said the family doctor had already been asked by the nurse to provide a report but had been told a formal request would have to be made by solicitors.

Johnston earlier pleaded guilty to obtaining almost £120 worth of goods by fraud.

He admitted pretending to Zaffer Ahmed of Domino’s Pizzas that he was the holder of the credit card he used to pay for meals he was ordering.

He was caught out after successfully dining out four times at around £30 a time.

Mr Jackson revealed that Johnston, of Whitburn, West Lothian, was now getting advice on what benefits he could claim after losing his Job Seekers Allowance.

Deferring sentence for a medical report, Sheriff Graeme Fleming said the question of compensation was uppermost in his mind.
