Pizza chef jailed for raping student

A Polish migrant was jailed for four years today after subjecting a student to a terrifying rape bid in her home.

Rafal Zebrowski’s attack on his victim was only finished when police arrived on the scene.

A judge told Zebrowski, 25, at the High Court in Edinburgh: “The incident was a terrifying one for the victim.”

Lord Doherty said it was clear from the woman’s testimony and a victim impact statement that she continues to suffer following the attack.

The judge said he took into account that Zebrowski was a first offender with a good work record.

But he added: “I would be failing in my public duty if I did not impose a significant custodial sentence for such a serious crime.”

Lord Doherty pointed out that the sexual advances made by Zebrowski to the 21-year-old were unwelcome and rejected by her but he refused to accept “no” for an answer.

Zebrowski, a pizza chef, formerly of West Cromwell Street, Edinburgh, had been invited to the woman’s home but refused to leave when asked to do so.

He was earlier convicted of attempting to rape the woman on January 13 last year.

Defence solicitor advocate Jim Keegan QC said Zebrowski, who followed proceedings with an interpreter, was “an intelligent individual” who was spoken highly of by employers.
