Pipe band dream comes true

A WEST Lothian pipe band has hit the high notes after scooping top spot in Edinburgh's first piping championship in more than 15 years.

Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band won first place at the competition last Sunday, which saw hundreds of bandsmen gather at the Royal Highland Centre.

The band of 40 pipers and drummers won the grade one category to earn the title as overall championship winners.

Ian Embelton, chieftan of the championship, said: "Boghall and Bathgate were worthy."
