Pilot escapes crash lightly

AN AMATEUR pilot had a lucky escape death after the engine of his light aircraft failed.

The unnamed pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a field on Tuesday night after his Cessna suffered engine failure. The incident happened shortly after 8pm near Whiterashes private air strip, 13 miles north of Aberdeen.

Emergency services, including Grampian Fire and Rescue, were scrambled, but were stood down on arrival as the pilot "walked way" from the scene.
