In pictures: Apple fans queue for new iPad

HUNDREDS of Apple fans flocked to the launch of the new iPad at stores across Scotland yesterday as the new tablet went on sale to the public

Many queued for hours, with some even sleeping overnight on the streets of Glasgow and Aberdeen, to ensure they got their hands on the third generation of Apple’s market-leading technology.

Student, Ksenia Maletova, 20, who studies business management at Napier University in Edinburgh, was among the first in Scotland to get her hands on the must-have tablet. Speaking outside the Apple store on Buchanan Street, Glasgow, Ksenia said: “It’s pretty exciting. I was lucky as my friends saved me a place in line as I couldn’t get through last night.

“They waited in the queue overnight so when I arrived I only had to wait 40 minutes before I got the new iPad.”

Apple enthusiast Hazel Hughes from Cumbernauld said: “I’m up early every morning for work each morning so it was not a problem getting here sharpish. I don’t think I could have camped out overnight, but fair play to those that did.”
