Picture: Border collie herds 352 turkeys
IT’S not her usual flock, but Border collie Lily is happy to help her owner Peter Ritchie round up his turkeys on Whitmuir Farm in West Linton.
Mr Ritchie, who has 352 free-range turkeys, said they responded well to being herded by a dog.
Although sheep are the most common animals rounded up by Border collies, they have been known to herd ducks, pigs and ponies. There is also footage of a sheepdog rounding up tigers at a South African park.
Border collies are considered to be the most intelligent breed of dog, closely followed by poodles and German shepherds.
