Phoenix set to be reborn

New operators are sought for a city centre pub for the first time in 28 years.

Phoenix in Broughton Street, which has been run by Rosaleen Harley and John Murray since 1984, is currently held on a lease from Punch Taverns.

The Phoenix, described as a “family-run traditional bar with a contemporary twist”, has a self-contained function bar which is used for a range of events and operates as a comedy venue during the Festival.

Derek Burgoyne, director of selling agent Cornerstone, said he expected the business to attract a high level of interest from potential buyers.
