Pensioner dies after collapse at Angus beauty spot

A 64-YEAR-old man has died after collapsing while paddling in a burn at an Angus beauty spot.

Dennis Wilcox, of Gardner Lane, Arbroath, died en route to Ninewells Hospital on Dundee after the emergency services were alerted on Tuesday night.

A spokesman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said: “Tayside Division, along with other emergency services, attended Brothock Burn near the St Vigeans nature trail Arbroath yesterday evening at 8.30pm after reports that a man had taken unwell whilst paddling in the water.

“Despite the best efforts of paramedics he sadly died on route to hospital. “

The spokesman added: “There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
