Pensioner attacked by two men as he slept in his car

A PENSIONER was attacked as he slept in his car yesterday after a night out, police said.

The 70-year-old man was sleeping in his vehicle which was parked on Admiral Street, Glasgow, when two men knocked on the window at around 3:30am.

They then pulled the door open, punched the man in the face and stole his wallet. Their victim was taken by ambulance to the Southern General Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries then later released.

Strathclyde Police appealed for information about the incident which happened in the Govan area of the city.

Detective Constable Neil Guy said: "This man had fallen asleep in his car after a night out at the Grand Ole Opry and is extremely shaken as a result of the attack.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Admiral Street around 0330 hours this morning and saw this incident take place, or has any information regarding this crime to contact Helen Street police office."

Police said there was no description of the two men other that they were of Asian appearance and between 18 and 20.
