Pensioner attacked at beach

A PENSIONER was assaulted and robbed by a man as she walked beside a Lothian beach.

The 66-year-old woman was walking in the area close to number three car park at Longniddry Bents in East Lothian when she was mugged by the suspect, who made off with a number of her personal possessions.

The incident took place at around 11:15am on Wednesday.

The suspect is described as white, aged mid-late 30s, approximately 5ft 10in tall, slim build. He was unshaven, spoke with a Scottish accent, and was wearing a cream-coloured baseball cap and a dark green jacket.

A police spokeswoman said, "This was an extremely distressing incident for the woman, though, thankfully, she was not injured."
