Pensioner, 75, dies in blaze at home

A PENSIONER died yesterday after a fire in his home. The 75-year-old man was found dead in his flat in Thornliebank, East Renfrewshire.

Emergency services were at the scene at 10am after neighbours heard a smoke alarm going off in the flat.

Police said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances. A post-mortem examination will take place.
