Pedestrian who died after car mounted pavement named by police

POLICE have named a woman who died after being hit by a car that had mounted a pavement in Perth.

Nicola Cross suffered serious head and chest injuries after the collision on Jeanfield Road at around 10.15am yesterday.

She was walking near the road’s junction with Cornhill Road and Burghmuir Road when a red car was seen mounting the pavement and colliding with her, police said.

The 30-year-old, of Juniper Place in Perth, was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where she later died.

Tayside Police said a red Toyota Corolla matching the description of the car involved in the incident was found elsewhere in the city later that day.

An 81-year-old man was “assisting police with inquiries”, the force said.

Any witnesses to the incident have been asked to contact police.
