Peat bog link to more jobs

A SCHEME to revive peat bogs across the Lothians could spark a notable jobs increase.

Experts met in Edinburgh to discuss the importance of peat bogs amid concerns many were being washed away over time.

The committee was told that restoring the resources would not only create posts but boost visitor numbers, too.

Clifton Bain, director of the IUCN UK Peatland Programme, said: "Properly managed peatlands help ensure jobs and wider economic benefits."
