Peace plea from Gandhi's grandson

THE grandson of Mahatma Gandhi has made a passionate plea for harmony between Muslims and non-Muslims and for peace in the Middle East and on the Indian subcontinent.

Professor Rajmohan Gandhi, a distinguished academic, author, journalist and politician, spoke after receiving an honorary Doctorate of Letters from Liverpool Hope University

"The future of humanity depends on whether the Muslim non-Muslim divide, which directly affects the people of this country, can be bridged … by people of all kinds," he said. "An essential tool for this bridge will be the ability that Gandhi had — of speaking the truth to your own side."
