PCs hit by skidding car

TWO police officers were hospitalised after being struck by a car that is understood to have skidded on black ice on the A77 yesterday.

A male and female PC on foot patrol were last night being treated at Kilmarnock's Crosshouse Hospital after being hit by the car at 9.50am on Christmas Day.

Strathclyde Police confirmed that the officers were struck by the vehicle when they were patrolling a series of road closures on the A77 near Kilmarnock .
