Patrick tops male fashion rankings

A FASHION designer from the Capital has been named Menswear Designer 2010 at the British Fashion Awards.

Patrick Grant was presented the award by model Daisy Lowe at a ceremony at the Savoy in London.

"It feels great, but honestly it was quite a huge shock," he said. "We've worked really hard for a long time, and we're completely delighted to be recognised.

"Being up against designers like Christopher Bailey and Paul Smith, it's amazing."

Grant brought the E Tautz name back into operation very recently, following a 40-year hiatus for the sporting outfitter that was previously a favourite of Winston Churchill.

"I'm very proud to be a Scot, and from Edinburgh," he said. "But I just want to be careful about going down the tartan waving, shortbread box type of image. E Tautz is an international brand, selling to international customers"
