Pathway to better care

WORK is under way to improve the care of dementia patients and their families in the Lothians.

Health chiefs said steps had already taken place to boost the situation, with the adoption of a scheme, tagged the Patient Pathway, to tie in with national strategies.

Acting director of strategic planning Alex McMahon said: "Our aim is to make sure that patients with dementia and their carers get the best support we can provide. Naturally, people have many concerns when they or a loved one are diagnosed with dementia."
