Partnership throws open gates to new resource hub

A NEW "community hub" in Sighthill has been officially opened.

The Gate 55 development at the former Westburn Primary School includes a library, training rooms, youth services, adult learning services, employment advice and community space.

The centre was developed by a partnership between the city council and Stevenson College.

Councillor Marilyne MacLaren, the city's education leader, said the new hub would be a valuable resource and added: "I'm confident that, as word spreads, the centre will firmly establish itself at the heart of the community and be of huge benefit to local people.

"Times might be tough financially but it is still our priority to provide the best possible facilities to help local communities thrive."

Stevenson College principal Brian Lister said: "This is an opportunity to build on services we already provide to improve employment prospects of people living in the local area."
