Partners win high praise

A PARTNERSHIP between health workers and police in Livingston has been praised by the country's justice secretary.

Kenny MacAskill visited the West Lothian Civic Centre and praised the initiative to provide healthcare and forensic services for people in custody.

He said: "Healthcare treatment for people in police custody is important, as it can help divert them from chaotic lifestyles or chronic substance or alcohol abuse.

"In the current financial climate it is vitally important that all of our public services work together to tackle problems and get value for money."
