Parties unite on green bank

ALL five of Scotland's main political parties have backed Edinburgh's case to be the home of the UK's new Green Investment Bank.

At a breakfast hustings hosted by Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, SNP deputy leader Nicola Sturgeon said the Capital's case was "overwhelming".

"Edinburgh is the only city outside London where it could be located," she said.

Labour's Andy Kerr said: "We should win this because we have the best pitch and the best offer."

Lib Dem leader Tavish Scott, Tory deputy leader Murdo Fraser and Green co-convener Patrick Harvie also pledged their support to bring the Green Investment Bank to the Capital.

Chamber of commerce chief executive Ron Hewitt said the breadth of political support for the campaign was "very encouraging".
