Parliament praise for anti-smoking couple
A motion in the Scottish Parliament notes that Dr Eileen Crofton, who died earlier this month, and her husband, who died last year, praised their work in helping to found ASH Scotland in 1973 and described them as tireless campaigners for tobacco control and smoke-free public places.A new award named after the couple was launched last year to recognise young people reducing tobacco and smoking-related harm in Scotland.
The motion, by Labour's Dr Richard Simpson, said: "There has been a substantial cultural change in Scotland's attitude to tobacco over the past 40 years, not least due to the efforts of these two notable Scots."
