Parks in spotlight

Councillors have agreed to put a plan to improve the city's play parks out to consultation.

The Evening News revealed last week that the city council is proposing to upgrade 28 different children's play parks over the next five years.

Under its proposals, five would also be phased out in the coming years because they are judged to be at the end of their lives and there are good alternatives.

Councillors on the city's policy and strategy committee backed the recommendation to put the proposals out to a full public consultation.
