Parking zone move stalls

COUNCIL bosses have postponed the introduction of the city's newest Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ).

The Ashley CPZ in Shandon had been expected to be implemented in the next few months, with a council report detailing the changes expected in May.

However, officials have indicated that the report will now not be available until September due to the "volume of work" being carried out by the parking department.

The council had agreed to press ahead with the creation of a CPZ in the Ashley area in 2009, as well as restrictions in parts of Inverleith's Arboretum Road and Kinnear Road, and parts of Craigleith Road. However, local residents said the creation of a CPZ, which will omit the five streets that make up the Shaftesbury Park Colonies, was a "pig's ear" of a solution.
